A concept initiated by Chris Davies at her home in Buckton in the idyllic Welsh Marches on the borders of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Wales, Chrissie’s Kitchen is now the home of ‘Cooking with Taste’ cookery courses.





There will be an emphasis on the learning of basic skills to increase your cooking confidence. To know how to make, for example, perfect pastry, light sponges, brilliant bread rolls or simple sauces, is really just the beginning! ‘The basics’ are the building blocks of good cooking, whichever style of food you may be attracted to.

Themed courses will be available each month, but flexibility is the aim. ‘Cooking with the Seasons’ for example, will introduce recipes specifically designed to showcase something of each season’s best produce. Perhaps, for example, poached local free range chicken with steamed summer vegetables followed by perfect little meringues with marinated raspberries. Simple but so delicious – and well balanced. Balance can often be overlooked, both on the plate and between courses yet it is a vital element in successful cooking!
Presentation too, is very important but at home it does not have
to be a ‘chef’s input’ of dots and squiggles and high rise
wobbly mounds. Attractive well presented food informs the taste
buds and is essential to the enjoyment of good food.
